Trumpet/flugel horn; about 60 years old or so; grew up in Austin; left when he was just out of High school to go to the west coast.  Studied music at City College in S.F.  While in Calif. met many of the folks who would go on to become jazz stars.  First recording gig was with Dexter Gordon and others.
